My 7-week-old Son Loves The iPhone

My Son Loves The iPhone

As a photographer I have a lot of pictures on my iPhone. It’s a great device to showcase my work, and the pictures I upload to it look amazing on the screen. Sometimes I want to email pictures, but by default the iPhone resizes them to 800 x 600. Not a big deal if you want to just look at them on a computer, cell phone or media device. But if you want to print them, the 800 x 600 size isn’t that great. So how do you e-mail full resolution photos from the iPhone? There’s how…

iPhoneReset

A coworker recently purchased an iPhone. The other day he had something happen that I’m sure most users have experienced. The iPhone freezes, and you can’t do anything. You can push the home or sleep/wake button and nothing happens. He wasn’t sure how to get it working again. So here’s a quick tutorial on how to hard reset your iPhone.

First press and hold both the home button and the sleep/wake button at the same time – just like in the picture above. Keep holding the buttons and your iPhone screen should go black in a second or two. Keep holding the buttons until the Apple logo appears on your screen – then release the buttons. That’s it. Your phone will reboot and should work fine again. It’s that simple.

iPhone

I’m going to be honest – I haven’t read the iPhone manual. I find my 3G very intuitive and it was super easy to use right out of the box. But from time to time I noticed my battery draining really fast and my iPod App would be running when I haven’t turned it on. I couldn’t figure out what was going on. But since it only happened maybe once every 3 months I thought nothing of it. Then a friend of mine at work pointed out he could double tap the home button to launch his iPod player. SAY WHAT!?!? I tried it and sure enough, my iPod player launched. I must have been accidentally double tapping the home button and launching my iPod. So I did a little more searching and found in the Settings, that you can customize this — so here’s how.

As a photographer I understand the importance of backing up work on a regular basis. After I finish a shoot I have a regular routine so that if something should happen, I shouldn’t lose all my hard work. However, my practices can apply to anyone using computers for work or even just for fun.

There was a nice surprise waiting for me this morning when I opened Cydia – which I haven’t done in a while – an update to qTweeter. What’s qTweeter you ask – it’s an app for jailbroken iPhones that makes updating your Facebook & Twitter statuses super easy and quick. So what’s so great about the 2.0 update? You can now add video to your posts from your iPhone 3GS, 3G, and original iPhone.

While ultrasn0w’s worked perfect for me on my iPhone 3G since I installed it, a quick scan of the internet shows it’s not all smooth sailing for every 3G and 3GS owner. So to help users out, the Dev-Team has released what it calls Ultratips.

Lets be honest – the selection of ringtones that come with the iPhone are dull. There are few good ones, but a lot of owners want to make the phone their own, and that means having custom ringtones. Those can range from jingles to selections of songs. How to create and get those custom ringtones to your iPhone is a snap using a Mac and GarageBand ‘09.

Following yesterday’s post about the video quality of the Cycorder App on the iPhone, a good friend of mine e-mailed asking me how I manage to get the video off the phone and onto my computer. I thought this would be a good chance to answer that question, because I’m sure there are many iPhone users out there that may not know how this is done.
