We know the iPhone is coming to Bell and Telus in November - what we don’t know yet is the official launch day and the cost of the plans. But today there are signs that one of those question might have been answered.
Both companies have set up pre-registration pages where people can register to get the answers to release date and pricing when it’s official. But according to sources at Electronista, Bell will start selling the iPhone Wednesday, November 4th. That’s also expected to be the day Bell rolls out its new network. Electronista also giving us a little rumour about plan pricing…
The tips received add that Bell should let users run its existing Smartphone Combo plans using the iPhone and may get a distinct advantage over Rogers, although how this would work is unclear. Bell offers 300 minutes of voice and unlimited on-device data for as little as $60 per month but, at this rate, limits it to e-mail, IM and web use. It’s not clear how or if the carrier would monitor data traffic on the iPhone.
You can bet if Bell is launching November 4th, then Telus will be too – or at least a date very close to that. If this date of November 4th is accurate it won’t be long before we see Bell and Telus start rolling out ad campaigns. With that will probably come ads from Rogers trying to convince users not to jump ship. One things for sure, it’s going to be a very exciting and fun couple of weeks here in Canada.
