LockScreen

Myself like many other iPhone 3GS owners have decided against jailbreaking our devices. For me, the big reason I would jailbreak my 3G was so that I could shoot video using Cycorder. But with the 3GS’ video capabilities I don’t need that app anymore. But a new application coming soon may sway some people to rethink jailbreaking.

MediaPhone has announced it plans to release SmartScreen. What it does is allow some widgets to be placed and used on the lock screen of both the iPhone and iPod Touch. If you’re using a Mac, you’ll be familiar with the widgets on the Dashboard. Well these apparently work the same.

The SmartScreen SDK should be available to everyone in November. Currently widget developers are being selected to participate in a Beta program. If you’d like to take part, you can email dev@media-phone.ch

Here is a quick video of what the application will look like when it’s available.

  1. Hrmm that was weird, my comment got eaten. Anyway I wanted to say that it’s nice to know that someone else also mentioned this as I had trouble finding the same info elsewhere. Thanks.
