Apple is out with another one of its “Get A Mac” ads. This time enlisting the help of funny man Patrick Warburton (David Puddy from Seinfeld). The ad follows the same recipeĀ as its predecessors – make fun of PC’s security, crashing, operating system, and anything else.
While the new ad is mildly amusing, the whole campaign is growing old. Yes it’s tried and true, and sure it’s been a huge success – but it’s time for Apple to come up with something new. The reason this campaign was so successful in the first place was because it was different. It portrayed Apple as young, hip, fun, fresh and new. Well there is nothing fresh and new about it lately. The saying is “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” – if it is indeed true then Apple is basking in praise. The folks in Cupertino have come up with some very creative ads for their products – and some not so creative ones. But when one does work, there are always a lot of copycats — right BlackBerry?
This shouldn’t come as a shock – I’m sure I can go through Apple ads and pick out stuff it’s tried to immitate. So it’s no surprise to me Bell’s new ad campaign (click on the video above) for the Palm Pre here in Canada has a very iPhone feel to it. Continue reading »
Get those iTablet rumours fired up again. AppleInsider reporting Apple recently shot a commercial for an unreleased product. It was shot at at the Jax at the Tracks restaurant in Truckee, California. Local paper the Sierra Sun spoke with restaurant owner Bud Haley who had this to say …
Apple found us, they’re trying to show us as a hip and cool spot for the 20-something crowd.
Of course no one but Apple knows what this commercial is for – but it’s fun to speculate. Could it be for the long awaited iTablet? Maybe the new iPod Touch? Or something else Steve Jobs has up his sleeve? Hopefully we’ll find out soon with the expected iPod event in September. What are your guesses? Let me know by commenting below.
